Step 1
  •  3 cups of bourbon
  • 2 Vanilla Bean Pods
  • 1 large orange
  • 1 large lemon
Step 2 Optional
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar

Holding the fruit over the top of your container, peel off the zest of the orange and the lemon, so that the bourbon catches not only the zest but also the oils that are sprayed out.  Be careful to only get the zest, not the bitter white pith underneath.

Crack open your vanilla bean add to container, add in your bourbon in to your container close and shake.

Aging, Straining, And Drinking Your Citrus Vanilla Infused Bourbon

Shake well and store away from sunlight, in a cool and dry pace agitating and shaking every other day for 1 day .

After the aging/steeping process is done, strain your liqueur through several layers of cheesecloth.

It helps to moisten the cheesecloth first so the liquid permeates more smoothly.

Once you get to the point of where you have strained everything out, you can gently wring the cheesecloth to extract all of the liquid and juice.

If you still need to do to lack of clarity in your liqueur, you can strain your Gin one more time through a coffee strainer.

Step 2

Pour the cup of water into a pot bring to a boil and stir in the sugar keep on stirring till all the sugar has dissolved let cool then pour into your gin tasting all the while till its to taste.
