Ingredients
Step 1
- 3 cups of vodka
- 4 1/2 vanilla beans, split in half crosswise and lengthwise
Step 2
- 1 1/2 cups of sugar
- 1 cup of water
Utensils
I am listing the simplest utensils that you can use, the ones mom should have already have in the kitchen.
Utensils:
– A large glass jar (I used a 3 liter jar) with a cover
– large plastic bowl
– paring knife
– measuring cups (liquid and dry)
– metal strainer
– cheesecloth
– saucepan
– small funnel
– glass bottles, or storage containers, for the final product, you can either use the glass Jar you used before, or just buy a second one.
Notes on Utensils:
Avoid plastic as much as possible when working with strong alcohol. Glass is always preferable.
Directions
Step 1
Sterilize the large jar, either in boiling water or running through the dishwasher rinse cycle.
Combined vodka with split vanilla beans. Cover tightly and shake.
Aging And Straining Your Infusion
Store the jar in a cool and dark location, agitating the jar every day to ensure everything is properly infusing. A good, solid swirl is sufficient
Store mixture in a cool, dark place for 1 month.
Remove vanilla beans.
Step 2
Gently heat the sugar and water in a saucepan to create a simple syrup.
Only heat until the sugar is dissolved, taking caution to heat on medium-low so the sugar doesn’t begin to burn.
If needed, strain the liquid through several layers of cheesecloth, or strainer. When using cheesecloth, it helps to moisten the cheesecloth first so the liquid permeates more smoothly.
Congratulations You Have Completed Making this Awesome Vanilla Infused Vodka Recipe!
You now need a bottle and a label which are cool enough to compliment your hard work. Honestly, if you put it into a cheap bottle, people will make fun of you. BUT, if it looks good, people will rave about it!
If you like the look, add the vanilla sticks back into the bottle.
