Ingredients

  • 12 ripe tangerines
  • 3 cups 80 proof vodka
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 12 whole cloves
  • 2 cups of white sugar

Utensils Tips

Here is a list of the simplest utensils that you can use; the ones Mom should already have in the kitchen:)

Utensils:
– cheesecloth
– Knife
– small funnel
– glass bottles, or storage containers, for bottling and serving, you can either use the glass Jar you used before, or just buy a second one.

Instructions:

Wash and peel tangerines. Remove any large pieces of pith remaining on inside of peel. Section tangerines and then cut each section into two or three pieces.

Put tangerine pieces and peel in a jar with vodka, water, cinnamon, and cloves.

Add white sugar and shake vigorously until sugar is dissolved.

Aging, Straining, filtering, and Drinking Your Tangerine Liqueur

Shake well and store away from sunlight in a cool and dry place for at least 1 month agitate often to help the sugar dissolve.

After 1 months strain the liquid, squeezing the pulp gently.

It helps to moisten the cheesecloth first so the liquid permeates more smoothly.

Once you get to the point where you have strained everything out, you can gently wring the cheesecloth to extract all of the remaining liquid and juice.

If you still need to strain your liqueur further due to lack of clarity, you can strain it 1 more time through a coffee strainer.

Taste if the flavor is to tart, add sugar slowly while stirring tasting as you to add to make sure you don’t make your liqueur to sweet.

Congratulations, You Have Completed Making this Awesome Tangerine Liqueur Recipe!

You now need a bottle and a label which are cool enough to compliment your hard work. Honestly, if you put it into a cheap bottle, people will make fun of you. BUT, if it looks good, people will rave about it!
